Dilemma

I’m big on food blogs.
Actually, that’s a lie. Or maybe more of a fib.
Huge is the word that should be used.
I have a folder just for food blogs in my reader, and there are {I kid you not} 547 of them I subscribe to.
Most of them post at least once a day, so that’s a lot of reading/trawling/perusing to be done on a daily basis.
For some time I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a sub folder off my URL just for recipes.
Every time I trawl for themes, I gaze longingly at those developed for recipe/food blogs and that sparks my interest again.
I know there are a million and one food blogs out there, yes, but I’m not scared to admit it.
I’m jealous of them.
Green with envy, dribbling, slobbering all over the keyboard, however you choose to phrase it, the bottom line is I’m jealous of them.
I want one!!!
Badly!
Then common sense kicks in.
Where would I find the time?
Can I keep up with another blog?
Is it simply that I’m addicted to new blogs and recipes is a convenient excuse?
You know what I mean, right?
So I find myself in unfamiliar territory.
Undecided.
Which isn’t like me, I know.
Every fibre of my being is screaming for a food blog, but my head won’t stop asking me those silly damned questions.
So, I’ve decided to throw it open to the floor.

Behind the scenes

I’ve been looking for a premium theme for some time, with little success until recently when I purchased one.
Well, the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray they say, and it would seem the same can be applied to women.
I’ve had to enlist the help of my very own blogging goddess, who is also having some trouble she tell me, so if that’s the case I’m sure I would still be working on it this time next year if it’s giving her problems, trust me.
In the mean time, I’ve been trawling the internetz looking, and waiting for something to grab me, and today it did.
The irony here is that is was on the WordPress site!
I rarely go there looking for themes because not a lot of them grab me ordinarily, and searching through them can be quite tedious, but these days you can search by tags and descriptions so it’s not too bad.
Me, being me, wanted a customisable header, so that’s what I went for.
Lo and behold a theme jumped out at me!
It’s wicked!
Really wicked!
I’m currently futzing with it to get it right and hope to have it done by the end of the weekend, and will launch it with my Malarky Monday post, if not before.
The biggest surprise of all, to me anyway, is that it’s only 2 columns.
I always, always, go for 3 columns, but this is different for some reason, plus it’s fluid width which is just a bonus.
So that’s going to be the best part of my weekend methinks.
There is much happening that you can’t see, but all will be revealed in the fullness of time as it generally is.
It’s flogging down rain here, so there is little else to do anyway, and a new theme always brightens my day a little.

Flat out

I started a new job this Monday just gone.
It’s a position that entails longer hours than the last one, more responsibility, however both of these are offset by more money, so what I miss on the swings I pick up on the slide.
Because of this I’ve been somewhat scarce around the blogospher, but know I will be around to you all over the Christmas weekend to wish you all the best and catch up on some reading.
Work will settle into a pattern before too long and then I’ll be back to being all over the place as per usual.
One other little thing you may have noticed. I’ve gone back to being Anonymum. The reasons are many and varied, none of which I choose to explain, suffice to say sometimes it the little things that mean the most.
That’s me for now, I need to be gone and be a boss for another day before having 4 days off. 4 days is nothing like the 3 weeks I should have been enjoying, but it will be worth it in the long run.
Hope your day is wonderful and full of Christmas cheer and spirit.
I have a post scheduled for very early Christams day {in Oz time of course} so if you want to wander back and check it out, feel free.
My theme will change back to a normal one at some point over the weekend too. Whist I love Christmas, I’ll admit to being sick of looking at the current theme. After all, I’ve been looking at it for close to 4 weeks now. That’s gotta be some sort of record for me I’m thinking??

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Given there is only a month left till Christmas, I though it was time to unveil my seasonal theme.
I decided when I started blogging that I would create just one tradition, and that was to have a Christmas theme each year. Nothing like tradition is there?
I almost went with the one I had my first year, then thought, NO!, I want a different one.
This wasn’t my first choice, however the other one gave me some grief over the last week, and eventually I gave up and found this one.
To comment, you need to click the little red snowflake beside the post title. Had me flummoxed for a small while until realised the number in that snowflake is the amount of comments on each post.
Tricky huh???
I love the colours on this one, and the layout, even thought it only has 1 sidebar and I prefer 2. We can’t have everything we want though I guess *shrug* Shit happens.
So. Enjoy, look around, and above all, let me know what you think of my choice this year.

Let’s get this show on the road

Welcome to my newest home.
I have no idea how you arrived here, but I thank you for visiting my youngest baby.
Nothing has been imported from my old site, even my stats are back to 5 parts of nothing, so it’s going to be fun trying to get them back to some level of respectability. Actually, just to have double figures would be a bonus at this point!
Much will be different this time around. Not only has the URL changed, so has my name and there will be other differences as well.
I will not be changing my theme with the regualrity that I change my underwear. This theme is easy to deal with, the code is more than readable, and it took me days to find just THE right pic for the header. Being Australian and wanting to use the tagline that I have, nothing other than the Southern Cross was sufficient. I thank she who gave me several options, but ultimately Mark was the winner. He found it on the NASA site and it fitted perfectly AND showed all of the Southern Cross.

Thus far I only have those I consider my rocks on the blogroll, but once you comment, if you were on my roll before, then I’ll add you as well. In that respect nothing will change. I will not add people for the sake of adding them. I’m quite particular about that and always have been. I see no point in having the longest blogroll in the world if you don’t visit at least once a day, and that’s not possible as we all know. I may not always comment, but I do visit. Most of you would be aware of that.
All first comments go to moderation by the way, so don’t be worried if it doesn’t show straight away. I’ll go through and approve them of a night.
There will not be as many bells and whistles this time around. I have basic plugins and stats, some of which you see, others you don’t. This will be a low maintenance blog, less in the sidebars so far, however that could change at any point. Can’t have you thinking I’m not still the maniac I always have been now can I???
That’s it for now. Posting schedule will be at my leisure, could be every day, may only be twice a week, that remains to be seen.

If you managed to find your way here by whatever means, please be gentle with my baby. She’s young and fragile, and I’m still working on her, but taking my time so I get it right.
A simpler blog, less bells and whistles this time, but more than enough to keep me happy.
