Endure

Not so long ago there was a post done and it was the one thing I love about blogging more than anything else.
Thought provoking!
Since then, my head had been skirting this issue in many, many ways.
My brain returns to the question more times in a day than I can count.
After much thought and consideration, today I came up with one word which I believe sums it up {for me anyway}
Endure.
Isn’t that what we do in life?
Endure.
Many say it’s persistence which sustains us, but I’m not sure I agree with that, because we have no choice do we?
Really?
Our lives continue until fate decides it’s done, then we die.
I believe the trick is to endure what we’re given.
Whilst it may sound cold and clinical to put it in those terms, I look at my own life in attempt to make sense of what I’m saying.
I’ve endured everything that life has thrown at me, and that’s not inconsequential let me say.
Addictions, illness, death, sorrow, loss, all these things have befallen me, and then there are the things I’ve chosen, regardless of the wisdom in making those choices.
I’ve faced my own mortality, yet, I endured {some would say that was because of sheer pig headedness, and they could be right!!}
Still {regardless of the motive} I endured.
I was watching a movie earlier this week and heard another very interesting question.
Someone was bemoaning what life had offered them, and another person said to them:
“What if our life is someone else’s hell?”
I found it interesting because I’ve been known to say, more than once, everybody goes to heaven because this is hell.
Maybe I was right?
I believe that if we can endure life, we can endure anything that follows after life.
Sounds like another fabulous adventure to me!

The fog has lifted

I have a firm belief that as we ascend into heaven, there are angels who sing.
In the last 24 hours these angels will have sung one of the sweetest songs they could as they welcome into their embrace a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
One who has suffered far too much, for far too long.
As the angels embrace him, he will look over their wings to see his beloved Ginny, bathed in sunlight, smiling, waiting for her chance to embrace the man she has missed for nearly 5 years.
He is at peace, his mind is clear, and he smiles, because the fog has lifted.
Finally the sun shines again for him.
Our thoughts are tonight in Boston with a family who while mourning, are also feeling a sense of relief that suffering has ended, and give thanks for the sunshine that bathes their loved ones as they are reunited in eternal peace.

Malarky Monday

Once again Monday is upon us with a rush, leaving us breathless and wondering where the hell the weekend went!
By the time you’re done, I hope you have need to wipe your monitor clean of the coffee/tea/alcohol you spat as you perused these humble offerings.
This week I have all visuals for you, and I do this so the early risers have only to come, see, spit, comment and continue on their merry way to my fellow malarkiers in Burnie, ~m and Dilligaf.

If nothing else, this may make you smile and nod at the truth of it!

This had me giggling madly! I’m not big on the Ninja Turtles, but this amused me no end!

The caption on this was woman of the year, but I’m thinking suicidal!!

This one is done with thoughts of the northern hemisphere winter about to depart, and I felt there were people who would appreciate the humour here, because the pic is called 2 feet of snow!!!

Finally, for anyone who knows who Rowan Atkinson is, and what he does, this will make them not only laugh, but shiver at the thought of a Bean baby!!

Behind the scenes

I’ve been looking for a premium theme for some time, with little success until recently when I purchased one.
Well, the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray they say, and it would seem the same can be applied to women.
I’ve had to enlist the help of my very own blogging goddess, who is also having some trouble she tell me, so if that’s the case I’m sure I would still be working on it this time next year if it’s giving her problems, trust me.
In the mean time, I’ve been trawling the internetz looking, and waiting for something to grab me, and today it did.
The irony here is that is was on the WordPress site!
I rarely go there looking for themes because not a lot of them grab me ordinarily, and searching through them can be quite tedious, but these days you can search by tags and descriptions so it’s not too bad.
Me, being me, wanted a customisable header, so that’s what I went for.
Lo and behold a theme jumped out at me!
It’s wicked!
Really wicked!
I’m currently futzing with it to get it right and hope to have it done by the end of the weekend, and will launch it with my Malarky Monday post, if not before.
The biggest surprise of all, to me anyway, is that it’s only 2 columns.
I always, always, go for 3 columns, but this is different for some reason, plus it’s fluid width which is just a bonus.
So that’s going to be the best part of my weekend methinks.
There is much happening that you can’t see, but all will be revealed in the fullness of time as it generally is.
It’s flogging down rain here, so there is little else to do anyway, and a new theme always brightens my day a little.
I hope your weekend is treating you well.

Contentment

Not exactly sure who looks the happiest here, Poppy or Zoe.
It’s hard to tell I think.
There is nothing quite like the bond between grandfather and granddaughter is there?
I must give credit to Kelly for the pic, which was taken at Christmas.
There were many more she took, but this is my favourite, if for nothing other than the happiness that is evident in both of them.

Indeed, it’s that time of the week when myself, Michael, Mark and DILLIGAF band together trying to titillate, tempt and tease you into some of the wittier little snippets life has to offer.
My first offering this week is some word play.
I’ve always said there are some very clever people in the world, and this merely serves to reinforce that notion.
Gotta love people with imagination, yes?

In the middle we have a couple of images that had me spitting coffee over my laptop screen.

Achieve

Throughout the year, Kelly has done To do lists.
As each item on the list is completed, she goes back and crosses it off.
I’ve always thought it a great idea because it gives a person not only some purpose, but things to aspire to.
On New Years Day, Kel did another one.
You’ll find it here.
At the bottom of that post, there is a line that grabbed me.

Feel free to write your own list. If you do, please be sure to let me know. Who knows, if there are enough of us I may devote a page to it and get a webring/blogroll happening for it…

Sounded like a good idea to me, so I thought I’d give it a go and do my own list.
Like Kel, these are not resolutions because I don’t do them, so I’ll say “these are the things I want to achieve this year”
None of them are impossible or unrealistic, so there is no reason I can’t do them either.
{A couple of them are the same, but then we are mother and daughter so it’s not that surprising, and these are in no particular order}

Certainly not lofty ambitions, nor are there a lot of them, but they’re more than enough of a challenge to keep me occupied throughout the year.
If you want to play along, feel free, and if you let Kelly know that would be a bonus.
For now, I’m off to check out what TAFE have on offer in the culinary skills department.

This week Malarky Monday is brought to you by the Christmas fairy.

He may not be a happy Christmas fairy, but he is a Christmas fairy all the same.
Also, we have a guest appearance for you to giggle over!
DILLIGAF has graciously agreed to join the mayhem that is MM, and has an absolute blinder for us!
I nearly bloody choked when I heard this, and it gives the 12 days of Christmas a whole new meaning, trust me!

Onto my small contribution to the madness we all hope makes you at least smile, and if we’re extra lucky, we’ll hear a damned good belly laugh.

Trying to pick the ones to post was my problem, and I can only hope you enjoy them.
