I’m an Aussie and bloody proud of it!

Posted by anonymum on January 26, 2010

It’s Australia day here today.
That day of the year when we celebrate living in this magnificent country of ours.
For the non Aussies among us, I give you some history on the day itself, so you have some idea of what I’m waffling about.
We have many, many reasons to be grateful in our country, and many have explained it far better than I ever can, so this is just to say:

AUSSIE
OI
AUSSIE
OI
AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!!
OI OI OI!!!

Celebrate being Australian!
If you’re short of a quid, knock on the next door neighbours front door, cos he’s sure to have a few snags on the barbie, and will doubtlessly share them, whether he likes you or not.
It’s just the Australian way after all.
Have a fabulous day people.

Australia day does remind us of our Heritage and of where we have been but also of where we dream we can go.

I am going to read through the history.I looked through it quickly but will print it out so I can actually understand what I’m reading.
Your Australia Day sounds sort of like our 4th of July celebration.
Lots of events to commemorate our history. Parades, ceremonies, cookouts, and fireworks!
It used to be that all the stores were closed on the holiday but that’s changed in recent years. That makes me sad.

it is similar to july 4th, yes..if i was to parallel it too something you celebrate, that would be it..
as to the holiday trading, it’s the same here, all the shops are open, and i too find it sad…they seem to trade all the time now

I understand all about the Australian way.
I get it and love it and have experienced it, first hand.
I play my digeridoo in your honor tonight.
As Hannah’s sweatshirt says, “Australia Rocks!”
    That is does.
As well as the wonderful folks living there . . .
    Awesome post.
    Goodonya!

the australian way is unique, there’s no other way to describe it…it’s all about helping a mate, and when things go wrong with flood or fire or whatever, you jump in and help or give whether you like them or not, or even just make a cup of tea..it’s something i’m particularly proud of, as are most aussies..
hope you’re getting that circular breathing going? you just know i’ll be looking for something in july right??
    ;)
